I love being an Editor, Digital Publisher, Website Content Manager, Blogger and Social Media Strategist. I have a passion for being at the forefront of communications innovations, and I am an avid - and award-winning - social media enthusiast with broad experience in print as well as digital communications. I believe in integrating our constantly emerging and evolving communications technologies into effective strategies that not only communicate messages but bring people together.
I am Senior Editor and Social Media Strategist for the Wisconsin Education Association Council, where I create content for everything from the association's print publication to its website and social media resources including Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Flipboard, Scoop. It! and YouTube. In 2014, I completely redesigned weac.org and moved it to WordPress. Using MultiSite, I created 15 independent regional websites that are built off the weac.org template and display content from the main site, integrated with local content.
I have extensive experience in social media, web and print fusion and have supervisory and team-building experience. I am skilled at many software programs including Wordpress, Sitefinity, Photoshop, iMovie, Dreamweaver, among many others.
A one-time newspaper reporter and editor, I use my skills as a journalist, copy editor, writer, photographer and videographer in all my social media and web management work. I have produced dozens of YouTube videos and created hundreds of web pages.
After attending events for many years, in 2013 I became a member of the Board of Directors of Social Media Breakfast Madison, an organization that brings together about 200 Madison area social media professionals for a once-a-month networking and training event that focuses on the latest in social media strategies and tools. I left the board in 2015 due to time constraints but continue to work with my friends and colleagues at SMBMAD as a volunteer, writing a recap of every event, managing the website and publishing an e-newsletter.
In 2011, I founded Beach Maniac LLC and developed a beach-focused travel website with associated social media channels as well as Beach Maniac products, including apparel and beach accessories. I am continuously evolving the Beach Maniac brand and finding new ways to reach out to beach lovers. Beach Maniac is also my learning lab where I further develop my interests and skills. And what a fun way to do it!
